Article: Rihanna's First Song Back is a Tribute
This Halloweekend is definitely going to be one to remember; Rihanna (@badgalriri) has returned. Rihanna has released a new single called “Lift Me Up” after six long years away from the music industry. Her single “Lift Me Up” is going to be part of the new Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack and is a tribute to the passing of the beloved Chadwick Boseman (@chadwickboseman). Chadwick Boseman played King T’Challa in Black Panther and Rihanna’s song was made to encapsulate the beautiful essence of Chadwick Boseman’s character on and off the screen.
The beginning of the song starts with atmospheric hums followed by some basic piano chords to let Rihanna’s voice carry the melody of the track. As the song progresses, Rihanna adds harmonies in the chorus to bring some warmth to her vocals. The song almost has a lullaby cadence to it— illustrating a vivid picture of the love and coziness Chadwick Boseman brought to the black community. I believe this song will be able to provide some closure to the beautiful life of Chadwick Boseman while celebrating the cultural affinity/unification he brought to the black community.
With that, let’s use the energy of this mantra to create a forefront of love and joy among all mediums, “Lift me up, Hold me down, Keep me close, Safe and sound” - Rihanna (in tribute to Chadwick Boseman).
